The Centre moved from the Prairie Plaza in August of 2019 inside the Avondale School. The Alberta Government ELCC pilot project and the CFEP funding allowed the renovations and move to be possible providing the Centre with additional 22 spaces and the ABC Out of School Program. For the longevity of the Centre this was necessary. HWD Construction of Grande Prairie completed the renovations that included a beautiful kitchen for nutritional meals/snacks for the children. Currently, we have a partnership with the Avondale School and the Grande Prairie School Board Division. The move was necessary for the longevity of the Centre, to be able to provide our families with affordable spaces even when the pilot project is over in March 2021 and to keep the Centre viable due to low lease fees. Thank you to the Alberta Government ELCC pilot project, the CREP Funding, HWD Construction, Grande Prairie School Board Division and the Avondale School.
The Centre is accepting resumes for early childhood educator positions for full, part time and subbing. Email resumes or drop off at the Centre. Must have a Alberta government qualification certificate for CDA, CDW or CDS/diploma.
We welcome you to come to the Centre to drop off a registration form. For those expecting
or on maternity leave, put your child on the wait list as soon as possible.
A Bright Beginning is operated by a non-profit society that is dedicated to proving quality
care. The Centre is now located in the Avondale School on 108 Ave on the west side. The
program provides care to children 12 months to 5 years for Early years and ages 5-12 years
in the ABC out of school program. The educators set up responsive environments
encouraging children to participate at their own pace, following their own natural sense of
curiosity and discovery. Weekly plans are based on the children's interests and
developmental levels from observations of the educators. Planning sheets are posted on the
bulletin board outside the classrooms. Please familiarize yourself with the events. Our cook
provides 2 snacks and a nutritional lunch. A menu is posted in the hallway by the open
window of the kitchen. We are committed to give your child (and family) a happy
supportive, and nurturing environment that promotes learning. The Board members of the
Society welcome all newcomers. All parents with children in the Centre are encouraged to
be involved. Members of the public with interest are also welcome. Like us on Facebook
and view current happenings at the Centre.
In spring of 2018, A Bright Beginning Child Care Centre was awarded the ELCC Government
Grant pilot project for three years. This grant provided affordable daycare spaces ($25 per
day) for families and wage top ups for the educators. Six educators have participated in the
Flight Framework; all educators have participated in the GRIT webinars, Community of
Practice meetings with our Pedagogical partner and Regional Learning meetings with other
ELCC Centres which are currently ongoing. The grant provided the funds to reach our re-
location goal; renovating and moving inside the Avondale School. This move occurred
August 2019 giving the Centre additional 22 spaces and an out of school program named
ABC. Educators are sharing Learning Stories about individual children, identifying facets
and goals plus the dispositions of learning. The classrooms reflect the Flight Framework,
creating spaces of vitality for the children in our care using natural loose part items.
Additional classrooms gave the Centre opportunity to add additional quality educators to
the team. Going into our final year of the pilot project, the focus will be with our families;
sharing resources/knowledge the educators have gained and strengthening relationships.
