From the Prairie Plaza in 2019, A Bright Beginning relocated inside the Avondale School on the west side. The Alberta Government ELCC pilot project and the CFEP funding allowed the renovations and move to be possible providing the Centre with additional 22 spaces and the ABC Out of School Program. HWD Construction of Grande Prairie completed the renovations that included a beautiful kitchen for nutritional meals/snacks for the children. Currently, we have a partnership with the Avondale School and the Grande Prairie School Board Division. The move was necessary for the longevity of the Centre to continue providing affordable spaces now the pilot project is over. The Affordability grant in its place, along with low lease fees, keeps the Centre viable. Thank you to the Alberta Government ELCC pilot project, the CREP Funding, HWD Construction, Grande Prairie School Board Division and the Avondale School.
We welcome you to come take a tour of the Centre, mornings preferred. Applications for your child or children to be placed on the waitlist are found on the website. Please fill out the first two pages only and email to the Centre. Click on the link About our Facility to the left to find the form.
A Bright Beginning is operated by a non-profit society that is dedicated to proving quality care.
The Centre is located inside the Avondale school on the west side entrance 10226 108 Ave.
The program provides care to children 12 months to 5 years for Early years and ages 5-9 in the ABC Busy Bee after school program which provides care for those attending Avondale only.
The Centre has adopted Flight: Alberta's Early Learning and Child Care Framework. Weekly plan is to reflect Flight based on the children's interests and developmental levels from the observations taken by the educators. The educators set up responsive environments encouraging children to participate at their own pace, following their own natural sense of curiosity and discovery. Weekly plans are based on the children's interests and developmental levels from observations of the educators. Planning sheets are posted on the bulletin board outside the classrooms. Please familiarize yourself with the events.
Our cook provides the Centre with an am snack (please provide the pm snack daily) and lunch from Tuesdays to Thursdays only. A menu is posted in the hallway by the open window of the kitchen. We are committed to give your child (and family) a happy supportive, and nurturing environment that promotes learning. The Board members of the Society welcome all newcomers. All parents with children in the Centre are encouraged to be involved. Members of the public with interest are also welcome. Like us on Facebook and view current happenings at the Centre.
